# The Programmable Farm

> A Metaviews project about opening farming to more people through autonomy, culture, and accessibility.

The Programmable Farm is a project for participatory agroecology. It asks what becomes possible when open source, artificial intelligence, climate change, and upheaval change how farms operate, and who gets to participate in, decide about, and repair the systems that make farming possible.

The project’s stake is simple: anyone who wants to be able to farm should get to.

The project brings together conversations, research, and practical experiments. A book is one component of a larger knowledge ecosystem, alongside work on farming, technology, culture, and knowledge.

The project is grounded in three connected ideas:

- Autonomy: people and communities should be able to understand, run, modify, and repair the systems they depend on.
- Culture: farming is culture, and technology is never culture-neutral.
- Accessibility: land, capital, knowledge, tools, physical access, and belonging can all become barriers.
